I did that with him, Red Hawk Rupert, 4 years ago, and was constantly trying to slow him down some. We were over 30 seconds inside the time ... just keeping his speed subsonic was exhausting. We finished 7th that year.

Mind you, this year, with Cody, we were 5 seconds inside the time, and we lost about 15 seconds when I made that wrong turn onto the inside racetrack rather than one fence line later into the infield, so had to stop and loop back. 🤪

Yes, totally awesome venue; infield of a racetrack. And Cody has indeed learned a great deal this season and gained loads of experience. He has understood the job and goes wonderfully now. I felt we've truly reached a new level 😍😍😍

It's called Apple Slicing - Apfelhauet - and only exists exactly like that right here in this area. It used to be a test for cavalry officers ... though it beats me why they needed to be able to toss a woman into a bed at a gallop ... 🤨

@@666esty it seemed similar to the Portuguese in displays only on reflection. This looks great though as it keeps both fit and supple and on the ball. I wondered about the woman being tossed...Johnny was really unflappable! Thanks for your explanation Esty.

I lopve this one as well. This is a large area next to a racetrack, awesome for eventing. This is about 2.5 hrs away, which is still not too bad.

you never know before you've tried

Hi! Yeah, thanks, Johnny is really very, very good at this. At most of the over 35 TRECs he has done now, we have usually won the PTV phase or then were in the top three or so. He's also always at between 55 and 60 points in the MA ... didn't know you had TREC in Holland. When I competed at the World Championship five times with my pervious horse, I can't remember seeing a Durch team ... ? But that was over ten years ago ...

Esty H. Geissmann its quite new actually and still incoming, we enterd this year in spain with a dutch team! i really like to see how you work with your horse :D you still practice TREC a lot?

Well, I did a lot till last year, but haven't ridden any this year. See, I also ride a lot of evneting and endurance, and you can't do everything. What's more, my best riding student I'm training is now taking Johnny to some jumping competitions and I ride my young horse Rupert at competitions, getting him ready for eventing - and a bit of endurance. He's too nervy and spooky still for TREC, he's a throughbred ex-racehorse I bought right off the track less than two years ago. So TREC right now is on the back burner for me. Maybe next year again ...

Esty H. Geissmann i will take a look! nice! i've ridden a endurance competition twice now.. really enjoyed it! as far as jumping and eventing goes... still working on my confidence hahah! you are amazing that your horses get the oppertunity to do what they can and like!

Well, he and I have done thirteen competition seasons, I've had him since he was eleven months old; we are a well established team ... and he listens and responds to about twenty voice commands as we do a lot of groundwork as well ... good luck to you in your TREC; it's such a fun equestrian discipline!
